My First Inspirational Thought!

Not my first ever, just on this blog.  So I was thinking today while I was listening to a song about what it meant.  It's called The Night, by the band Disturbed.  I know, sounds creepy, but I really think they're a talented band.  Here's the music video.  I'm not really going to talk about the music video, I just posted it for the music.

 Here are the lyrics:

What has come over me?
What madness taken hold of my heart?
To run away, the only answer
Pulling me away
To fall upon the night

The source of my recovery
Sweet shadow taking hold of the light
Another day has been devoured
Calling me away, begging the question, why?

For saving me from all they've taken
Letting my armor fall again
Giving me the strength to face them
Feeling it taking over now
On a path to take it all away

There can be no better way of knowing
In a world beyond controlling
Are you going to deny the savior
In front of your eyes?
Stare into the night
Power beyond containing
Are you going to remain a slave for
The rest of your life?
Give in to the night

This self-discovery
Redemption taking hold of my mind
A serenade of haunting voices
Calling me away
To feast upon the night

The source of my felicity
Dark maiden taking hold of my hand
Leading me away from hibernation
Strong and unafraid, never a question why

For saving me from all they've taken
Letting my armor fall again
Giving me the strength to face them
Feeling it taking over now
On a path to take it away

There can be no better way of knowing
In a world beyond controlling
Are you going to deny the savior
In front of your eyes?
Stare into the night
Power beyond containing
Are you going to remain a slave
For the rest of your life?
Give in to the night
Give in to the night
In a world beyond controlling
Are you going to deny the savior
In front of your eyes?

Stare into the night
Power beyond containing
Are you going to remain a slave for
The rest of your life?
Give in to the night
So!  If you even care, you'd have listened to the song and looked at the lyrics.  It's okay if you don't like the song, I don't care.  I just wanted to talk about the message.  When I first heard this song, I thought David Draiman was singing "Give in to the light."  I thought this was some sort of a spiritual song, but I was wrong.  Not dead wrong, but still, wrong.  Once I found out that it was "night," I began wanting to know what the song was talking about, so I looked up a bunch of people's ramblings and picked it apart myself.

Here's my opinion.  So, "the night" actually represents something that is comforting and reassuring to someone.  In the world that's really crazy, many sources push to have you become something that you don't want to become.  It's not necessarily conforming to the world, but various beliefs in the world.  There's no one way to turn out, but there is a right way.  Someone must become their own self, not what others want them to become.  This doesn't mean be emo and think that everyone is out to get you.  It also doesn't mean that conforming to someone else's belief is wrong.  But, you need to find out if it's right for yourself.  Don't be a crowd pleaser and don't go with the flow.  Find out what is right yourself, then follow it.

Those are my thoughts.  I'd really like for others to share theirs as well, if they care to.  My blog is semi-private though, so ask me and I can invite you.
